American Burn Association held its National Leadership Conference

Members of the MWHC Burn Team including Katie Hollowed, Jeffrey Shupp, Lauren Moffatt, and Jason Woods (as well as other Burn Center leaders from around the nation) attended meetings with legislators on Capitol Hill and spoke on two major items:

• Flame Arrestors – HR 919: The ABA is asking for co-sponsors of HR 919 which would require the Consumer Product Safety Commission to issue a rule requiring the installation of flame arrestors on portable fuel containers to prevent serious burn injuries.

• Military Burn Research Program: The ABA is asking Senators and Congress people to sign letters to urge the Appropriations Committee to continue to include $10 million in FY 2019 for the Military Burn Trauma Program.
